Maize–soybean intercropping: A bibliometric analysis of 30 years of research publications

Abstract Maize ( Zea may L.)–soybean [ Glycine max (L.) Merr.] intercropping is popular in many countries because of its high productivity. However, no studies have explored maize–soybean via bibliometric methods. Taking the Web Science database, visualization applications CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to visually analyze literature related research field intercropping, with aim studying keyword hotspots evolving trends, analyzing future directions. The results showed that annual number publications on rapid growth from 2010 2021. top three publishing China, United States, India, institutions Sichuan Agricultural University, Ministry Agriculture Rural Affairs China University. Th most journals Field Crops Research , Agronomy Journal Indian . Agronomy, multidisciplinary agriculture plant science categories. A analysis indicated “maize” was study area. Crop root coupling processes, biological nitrogen fixation, efficient utilization resources, carbon sequestration emission reduction, microbial communities, interspecific relationships are current hot topics. This review analyzed trends provide an important reference for scientists better respond food security issues.
